Sometimes at brunch time I will sit with a friend and have some good gossip over a cup of coffee. There is something about sitting up on a stool where you can rest your arms on the bar that makes it comfortable to sit and talk.

If my husband gets a chance to come home from lunch, the Breakfast Bar is where we sit and have a sandwich and salad together.

When the kids come home from school in the afternoons, they like to put their backpacks on the Breakfast Bar which is not allowed, so after they put their backpacks where they belong. Then they can sit at the Breakfast Bar and have a snack to hold them over until dinner time. When my husband gets home from work he likes to sit at the Breakfast Bar and have a cold soda while I am preparing dinner. Sometimes he gets to peel the potatoes while I am preparing other food.

When we prepare a full meal we usually eat in the dinning room. But if it is a simple casserole and we are delayed for dinner time, we will eat our dinner at the Breakfast Bar.

After dinner the Breakfast Bar is in business again with the homework. The kids will spread their books and papers out on Breakfast Bar and spend an hour or so studying and preparing their homework for the next day.

So you can see why we love our Breakfast Bar. I wonder what we did before we had one. There are many other activities that can be done around or on the Breakfast Bar, for example if your are entertaining you can use it for the refreshments. Some Breakfast Bars are mobile and have wheels so it can be moved from room to room which would also work great for entertaining guests. In that case you could even take it out to the patio to set up refreshments. Then pull the bar stools up and everyone can meet at the Breakfast Bar.
